RGResourcing associates - Interview Preparation

Preparation is all important. Showing the interviewer that you have taken the time to prepare and find out information will demonstrate your desire to do well, your ability to plan, to organise and think ahead.
What should I find out about the company?
Before your interview find out as much background information about the company as possible. This will help you decide if they are the kind of company you would like to work for, for instance:
What is their business / product / service? How many employees do they have?
Are they a part of a large group, affiliated with other companies? Who are their competitors?
How can I make a good first impression?
Unfortunately, your appearance can affect the interviewer’s opinion of your ability or suitability for the job. Take care to make that crucial first impression a good one. Here are a few things to remember:
Be smart, clean and well groomed, unless advised otherwise wear business attire, i.e. dark business suit, shirt / blouse. Limit the amount of perfume/cologne and Jewellery that you wear.
Things to take & getting there..
- Copy of your Curriculum Vitae
- Examination certificates (if applicable)
- Clear travel directions
Allow plenty of travelling time to take account of unexpected delays. It is important that you don't arrive for the interview flustered. This could give a bad impression. It is better to arrive early.
Remember that we all get nervous. Confidently shake your interviewers hand. Stay calm, don't fidget or twiddle your thumbs and always be polite.
Never eat during the interview to include chewing gum - accepting a drink is fine. Be yourself and be honest. Show a real interest in the job.
Never speak badly of your previous employers. Speak clearly using positive words and inflection. Maintaining some direct eye contact with the interviewer shows confidence.

- Who will you be working with?
- Are there promotional prospects?
- When will they be making their final decision?
- And you may wish to clarify the salary and benefits if you are not 100% sure.
